Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 97 describes the majestic and terrifying appearance of God in judgment. It calls those who love the Lord to "hate evil" and declares that "light is sown for the righteous."

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Hate Evil: Love for God and love for sin are incompatible (v. 10).
2. Light is Sown: Joy and light are "sown" (planted) like seeds for the upright, often growing in the midst of trials (v. 11).

FORMAL PRAYER

The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice. Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. Amen.
