Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 61 is a prayer for protection when the heart is overwhelmed. David cries out from the end of the earth, asking to be led to the rock that is higher than him.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Higher Rock: When our own strength fails, we need a "rock that is higher than I" (v. 2). Christ is that stable ground.
2. Abiding in the Tabernacle: The goal of the believer is to trust in the "covert of thy wings" for ever (v. 4).

FORMAL PRAYER

Lead us to the rock that is higher than we are, O Lord. Be Thou our shelter and a strong tower from the enemy. Amen.
