Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 35 is an imprecatory prayer where David asks God to plead his cause against those who strive with him and to stop the way against his pursuers.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. God as Advocate: David asks God to "plead my cause" (v. 1). When we are unjustly attacked, we should let God be our lawyer.
2. Say unto my Soul: David asks God to say, "I am thy salvation" (v. 3). We need the internal witness of the Spirit to give us peace in conflict.
3. Returning Evil with Good: David fasted and prayed for his enemies when they were sick (v. 13). We are called to a higher standard of love.

FORMAL PRAYER

Lord, who is like unto Thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him? Plead our cause and say unto our souls, "I am thy salvation." Amen.
