My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

Psalms 45 Study & Commentary

Psalm 45 is a Messianic wedding song, celebrating the beauty and majesty of the King and His bride. It is cited in Hebrews 1 to prove Christ’s divinity.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Majesty of Christ: The King is "fairer than the children of men" (v. 2). Christ’s moral and divine beauty is supreme.
2. The Eternal Throne: "Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever" (v. 6). This is a direct declaration of the King’s deity.

FORMAL PRAYER

Thy name shall be remembered in all generations. We praise Thee, O King, for Thy truth, meekness, and righteousness. Amen.
