Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 130 is a De Profundis ("Out of the depths"). It expresses the psalmist’s cry for mercy and his patient waiting for the Lord, in whom there is plenteous redemption.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Crying from the Depths: No matter how deep the trouble or the guilt, God hears the cry for mercy (v. 1).
2. Plenteous Redemption: With the Lord there is mercy and "plenteous redemption" (v. 7). He redeems from *all* iniquities.

FORMAL PRAYER

Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord. Let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. Amen.
