Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 89 is a majestic psalm concerning the Davidic Covenant. It praises God’s faithfulness but laments the apparent failure of the covenant during a time of national defeat.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Covenant of Mercy: God’s "mercy shall be built up for ever" (v. 2). His promises are as stable as the heavens.
2. The Sure Promises to David: Though his children might be disciplined, God will not "break my covenant" (v. 34). This finds ultimate fulfillment in Christ.

FORMAL PRAYER

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever. Blessed be the Lord for evermore. Amen, and Amen.
