Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 71 is the prayer of an aging believer. David asks for God’s strength in his old age, vowing to praise Him "more and more" and to declare His strength to the next generation.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Faith in Old Age: "Cast me not off in the time of old age" (v. 9). Faith does not retire; it matures and testifies.
2. A Mouth Full of Praise: We should determine that our mouth will be "filled with thy praise... all the day" (v. 8).

FORMAL PRAYER

O God, Thou hast taught us from our youth: and hitherto have we declared Thy wondrous works. Forsake us not now when we are old and greyheaded. Amen.
