Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 86 is David’s "prayer of the poor and needy." He asks for an "unite my heart" to fear God’s name and praises God for being "plenteous in mercy."

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. A United Heart: We often suffer from a divided heart. We should pray, "unite my heart to fear thy name" (v. 11).
2. God’s Unique Nature: Among the gods there is none like unto the Lord (v. 8). His mercy is the believer's only hope.

FORMAL PRAYER

Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive. Amen.
