Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 11 is David’s response to those who suggest he flee to the mountains. He asserts that his trust is in the Lord, who sits in His holy temple and whose eyes try the children of men.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Foundations of Society: "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (v. 3). When social and moral order collapses, the righteous must look to God on His throne.
2. The Lord’s Testing: God "trieth the righteous" (v. 5). Trials are not signs of abandonment but are the Lord’s way of refining and examining His people.
3. Beholding His Face: The upright shall behold God’s countenance. The ultimate reward of faith is the intimate vision and presence of God.

FORMAL PRAYER

In the Lord put we our trust. When foundations are shaken, remind us that Thy throne is in heaven and that Thy righteous soul loveth righteousness. Amen.
