Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 30 is a song of dedication for the house of David. He thanks God for healing him and bringing his soul up from the grave, famously declaring that "joy cometh in the morning."

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Duration of Anger vs. Favor: God’s anger is for a moment, but His favor is for a lifetime (v. 5). This gives us hope in seasons of discipline.
2. Morning Joy: Weeping may endure for a night, but joy is inevitable for the believer. Perspective is key during the "night" seasons.
3. Turning Mourning into Dancing: God is the only one who can strip off our sackcloth and gird us with gladness (v. 11).

FORMAL PRAYER

O Lord our God, we cried unto Thee and Thou hast healed us. Thank Thee for turning our mourning into dancing and for the joy that arrives with the morning light. Amen.
