Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 10 is a lament over the apparent success of the wicked who say "God hath forgotten." It concludes with a powerful appeal to God to "lift up thine hand" and help the fatherless and oppressed.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Pride of the Wicked: The wicked man thinks he shall never be moved (v. 6). Pride blinds people to their accountability before the Creator.
2. God Sees the Mischief: Though He seems far off, God beholds mischief and spite to requite it with His hand (v. 14). Nothing escapes His notice.
3. Helper of the Fatherless: God is the special protector of the vulnerable. His justice is the ultimate hope for those who have no earthly helper.

FORMAL PRAYER

Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up Thine hand. Forget not the humble, but break the arm of the wicked and be the helper of the fatherless and the oppressed. Amen.
