Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 28 is a cry for help followed by a song of praise. David begs God not to be silent to him, lest he become like those who go down into the pit, and ends by blessing his "strength and shield."

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Silence of God: To the believer, God’s silence is a serious crisis (v. 1). We must persist in prayer until we hear from Him.
2. The Works of the Lord: God judges those who "regard not the works of the Lord" (v. 5). We must be students of God’s providence.
3. God as our Strength: God is the saving strength of His anointed. He carries His people like a shepherd.

FORMAL PRAYER

Blessed be the Lord, because He hath heard the voice of our supplications. Be Thou our strength and our shield; let our hearts greatly rejoice in Thee. Amen.
