Psalms 21 Study & Commentary

Psalm 21 is a song of thanksgiving for the king’s victory and blessings. It acknowledges that God has granted the king’s heart’s desire and set a crown of pure gold on his head.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. God as the Source of Success: Every victory and "heart’s desire" fulfilled is a gift from God (v. 2). We must return the glory to Him.
2. The King’s Trust: The king’s stability is tied to his trust in the Most High (v. 7). Leadership is most secure when it is submitted to divine authority.
3. Eternal Blessings: God makes the righteous "most blessed for ever." Earthly crowns are temporary, but God’s favor is eternal.

FORMAL PRAYER

Be Thou exalted, Lord, in Thine own strength: so will we sing and praise Thy power. Thank Thee for hearing the desires of our hearts and for Thy preventing goodness. Amen.
