Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 81 is a call to solemn worship during the feast, where God reminds Israel of His deliverance from Egypt and laments their stubbornness in not listening to His voice.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Open Thy Mouth Wide: God promises to fill our mouths if we open them in faith (v. 10). He desires to provide abundantly if we would only trust Him.
2. The Cost of Disobedience: Because Israel would not hearken, God "gave them up unto their own hearts' lust" (v. 12). The greatest judgment is being left to our own desires.

FORMAL PRAYER

Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob. Lord, help us to hearken unto Thy voice and walk in Thy ways. Amen.
