Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 44 is a communal lament where Israel remembers past victories but questions why they are currently facing defeat and scattering among the heathen.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. God’s Hand in History: We got not the land in possession by our own sword, but by Thy right hand (v. 3).
2. Trusting in Trouble: Even when we feel like "sheep for the slaughter," we must cry out for God to arise and redeem us for His mercies' sake (v. 22-26).

FORMAL PRAYER

Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake. O Lord, save us from the hand of our enemies. Amen.
