Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 84 expresses a deep longing for the house of God. It declares that a single day in God’s courts is better than a thousand elsewhere and that God is a "sun and shield."

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Blessedness of Presence: "Blessed are they that dwell in thy house" (v. 4). True happiness is found in proximity to God.
2. Strength to Strength: Those whose strength is in God go "from strength to strength" (v. 7), even when passing through the valley of Baca (weeping).

FORMAL PRAYER

How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts! For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory. Amen.
