Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 116 is a personal thanksgiving for deliverance from death. The psalmist asks, "What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits?" and resolves to pay his vows.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Cup of Salvation: The only response to God’s grace is to "take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord" (v. 13).
2. The Death of Saints: "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints" (v. 15). Even in death, God’s children are held in His care.

FORMAL PRAYER

I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving. Amen.
