Psalms 64 Study & Commentary

Psalm 64 is a prayer for protection against the "secret counsel of the wicked" who shoot their arrows at the perfect. It concludes with the assurance that God will shoot at them.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Sharp Tongue: The wicked "whet their tongue like a sword" (v. 3). Words are weapons that God takes seriously.
2. Sudden Justice: God’s judgment often comes when the wicked think they are most secure.

FORMAL PRAYER

Hear our voice, O God, in our prayer: preserve our life from fear of the enemy and hide us from the secret counsel of the wicked. Amen.
