Psalms 55 Study & Commentary

Psalm 55 expresses the pain of being betrayed by a "familiar friend." David wishes for wings like a dove to fly away, but ultimately decides to "cast thy burden upon the Lord."

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Casting Burdens: "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee" (v. 22). God doesn't promise to remove the weight, but to sustain us as we carry it.
2. Evening, Morning, and Noon: Constant prayer is the remedy for constant trouble (v. 17).

FORMAL PRAYER

As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me. I will trust in Thee, O Lord, through all my trials. Amen.
