Psalms 144 Study & Commentary

Psalm 144 is a prayer for victory and prosperity. David blesses the Lord who teaches his hands to war and asks for a state where "our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth."

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The God of Strength: Blessed be the Lord "which teacheth my hands to war" (v. 1). God equips us for the spiritual battles we face.
2. The Definition of Happiness: "Happy is that people, whose God is the Lord" (v. 15). True national and personal prosperity is spiritual.

FORMAL PRAYER

Lord, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! Deliver us and rid us from the hand of strange children; that our people may be blessed. Amen.
