Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 37 is a wisdom psalm advising the righteous not to fret because of evildoers. It emphasizes waiting on the Lord, trusting in Him, and inheriting the earth.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Fret Not: Worrying about the success of the wicked is counterproductive (v. 1, 8). We must trust in God’s final justice and focus on our own faithfulness.
2. Delight in the Lord: When we find our joy in God, He aligns our desires with His will (v. 4). True satisfaction is found in Him, not just in His gifts.
3. The Steps of a Good Man: Our daily path is ordered by the Lord (v. 23). Even if we stumble, we shall not be utterly cast down because God upholds us.

FORMAL PRAYER

Lord, teach us to rest in Thee and wait patiently for Thy timing. Order our steps today and help us to delight in Thy way, knowing that Thy peace is our inheritance. Amen.
