Psalm 75 warns the proud that promotion comes neither from the east nor the west, but from God, who is the Judge putting down one and setting up another.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Source of Promotion: Human effort is secondary; God is the one who "putteth down one, and setteth up another" (v. 7).
2. The Cup of Judgment: God holds a cup of red wine for the wicked (v. 8). Justice is certain, though it may tarry.

FORMAL PRAYER

Unto Thee, O God, do we give thanks. We will declare for ever; we will sing praises to the God of Jacob. Amen.
