Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 115 contrasts the living God with dead idols. It calls Israel to trust in the Lord and declares that "not unto us, O Lord, but unto thy name give glory."

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Soli Deo Gloria: "Not unto us... but unto thy name give glory" (v. 1). All success and praise belong to God alone.
2. The Helplessness of Idols: Idols have mouths but speak not. Those who make them become like them—spiritually deaf and blind (v. 4-8).

FORMAL PRAYER

Not unto us, O Lord, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake. Our help is in the Lord. Amen.
