Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 27 is a song of fearless confidence. David declares the Lord is his light and salvation, and expresses his one desire: to dwell in the house of the Lord and behold His beauty.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Antidote to Fear: "The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (v. 1). Fear dies when we realize who is standing with us.
2. The One Thing: David had a singular focus: seeking God’s face (v. 4). A focused spiritual life is an unshakable one.
3. Wait on the Lord: The psalm ends with the command to "be of good courage" while waiting (v. 14).

FORMAL PRAYER

One thing have we desired of Thee, O Lord: that we may dwell in Thy house all the days of our lives, to behold Thy beauty and to enquire in Thy temple. Amen.
