Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 33 is a call to praise God as the Creator and Sovereign Ruler. It emphasizes that the world was made by His word and that His counsel stands for ever.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Power of the Word: By the word of the Lord were the heavens made (v. 6). If God’s word created the universe, it can certainly recreate our lives.
2. The Lord’s Eye: The eye of the Lord is upon them that fear Him to deliver their soul from death (v. 18). We are never outside His watchful care.
3. Wait for the Lord: Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.

FORMAL PRAYER

Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in Thee. Our hearts shall rejoice in Thee, because we have trusted in Thy holy name. Amen.
