Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 7 is David’s prayer for vindication against his accusers. He appeals to God as the righteous Judge who trieth the hearts and reins, and who prepares instruments of death for the ungodly.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Integrity under Fire: David asks for judgment according to his integrity (v. 8). When accused, our best defense is a clear conscience before God.
2. God as a Judge: God is "angry with the wicked every day" (v. 11). His patience should not be mistaken for indifference toward sin.
3. The Recoil of Evil: The wicked fall into the very pit they dig for others (v. 15-16). Sin has a self-destructive nature built into the moral order of the universe.

FORMAL PRAYER

O Lord our God, in Thee do we put our trust. Save us from those that persecute us and judge us according to our integrity, for Thou art the righteous Judge of all. Amen.
