Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 74 is a lament over the destruction of the Sanctuary. Asaph asks God why He remains silent while the enemy roars in the midst of the congregations.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Remember the Congregation: God’s people are His "purchased" possession (v. 2). He will not abandon His own.
2. God as King of Old: Remembering God’s past power (dividing the sea) fuels our hope for present deliverance (v. 12-13).

FORMAL PRAYER

Arise, O God, plead Thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth Thee daily. Forget not the voice of Thine enemies. Amen.
