Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 51 is David’s great confession after his sin with Bathsheba. He cries for mercy, asks for a clean heart, and pleads for the Holy Spirit not to be taken from him.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Total Forgiveness: "Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow" (v. 7). No sin is too deep for God’s cleansing grace.
2. A Broken Heart: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit and a contrite heart (v. 17). God values humility over religious performance.

FORMAL PRAYER

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy Spirit from me. Amen.
