Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 69 is a Messianic psalm of deep distress. It describes the Sufferer being hated without a cause and given gall and vinegar to drink, themes applied to Christ.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. Hated Without Cause: Injustice is part of the believer's experience, as it was for Christ (v. 4).
2. Zeal for God’s House: "The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up" (v. 9). Passion for God should be our consuming fire.

FORMAL PRAYER

Save us, O God; for the waters are come in unto our soul. Draw nigh unto our soul, and redeem it because of our enemies. Amen.
