Chapter Study & Analysis

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible, an acrostic tribute to the Word of God. It explores the beauty, authority, and necessity of God’s law, statutes, and testimonies.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. The Lamp and Light: "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (v. 105). The Word provides both immediate guidance and long-term direction.
2. Hiding the Word: We must hide God’s Word in our hearts to prevent sin (v. 11). Internalizing Scripture is the key to spiritual victory.
3. Affliction as a Teacher: "It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes" (v. 71). God uses trials to deepen our understanding of His Truth.

FORMAL PRAYER

Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me. Amen.
