Chapter Study & Analysis

Isaiah 66 - The Final Contrast: God rejects formal temples in favor of the "poor and contrite spirit." The book ends with a vision of Jerusalem's rapid birth, the gathering of all nations to see God's glory, and a sobering warning of the eternal judgment for the rebellious.

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. The True Temple: God cannot be contained in a building; His true dwelling is with the humble heart (v. 1-2).
2. The Birth of a Nation: "Shall a nation be born at once?" (v. 8). A prophecy of the sudden and miraculous restoration of God's people.
3. Eternal Destinies: The book ends with the stark reality of the "worm that dieth not" and the "fire that is not quenched" (v. 24).

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. Trembling at the Word: The mark of a true believer is someone who "trembleth at his word" (v. 2, 5).
2. Missionary Duty: The redeemed are sent to the "isles afar off" to declare God's glory among the Gentiles.
