Chapter Study & Analysis

Isaiah 62 - The Watchmen on the Walls: God declares He will not rest until Jerusalem's righteousness shines forth. He gives Zion new names—Hephzibah ("My delight is in her") and Beulah ("Married")—and commands watchmen to never hold their peace until Zion is established.

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. The New Name: Changing a name in the KJV signifies a change in nature and relationship with God.
2. The Divine Delight: God rejoices over His people as a bridegroom rejoices over a bride (v. 5).
3. Intercessory Mandate: God "appoints" watchmen (v. 6) whose job is to "give him no rest" through prayer until the promise is fulfilled.

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. Persistent Prayer: The power of "reminding" God of His promises as a form of faithful intercession.
2. Security in God's Love: Finding our identity in being "Sought out" and "Not forsaken."
