Chapter Study & Analysis
Overview
Isaiah 59 - The Separating Sin: The prophet explains that God's hand is not short, but sin has separated man from God. After a confession of national depravity, God Himself intercedes, putting on "righteousness as a breastplate" and coming as a Redeemer.
THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT
1. The Nature of Sin: Sin creates a "partition wall" between the Creator and the creature.
2. The Divine Warrior: When there was "no intercessor," God's own arm brought salvation (v. 16). This imagery is used by Paul in Ephesians 6.
3. The Covenant of the Spirit: The promise that God's Spirit and Words will not depart from the mouths of His people's children.
Practical Lessons
PRACTICAL LESSONS
1. Honest Confession: Recognizing our "groping like the blind" before seeking the Light.
2. Relying on the Redeemer: Salvation comes because God acts when we are helpless.
