Chapter Study & Analysis

Isaiah 32 - The King of Righteousness: A prophecy of a King who shall reign in righteousness. It describes a future society where moral clarity is restored, contrasted with the "careless women" of Jerusalem who are warned of coming desolation until the Spirit is poured from on high.

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. The Righteous King: Primarily Messianic, pointing to Christ as the hiding place from the wind and a covert from the tempest.
2. The Ministry of the Spirit: True peace and fruitfulness are only possible when the "Spirit be poured upon us from on high" (v. 15).
3. Moral Discernment: A day when the "vile person shall be no more called liberal" (v. 5), showing God's restoration of truth.

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. Quietness and Assurance: The work of righteousness is peace; its effect is quietness and assurance for ever (v. 17).
2. The Danger of Complacency: A warning to those who are "at ease" while spiritual ruins surround them.
