Chapter Study & Analysis

Isaiah 27 - The Deliverance of the Vineyard: God promises to slay "Leviathan," the piercing serpent, and restored His vineyard (Israel). He describes a day when Israel shall "blossom and bud" and the great trumpet shall gather the outcasts.

THEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

1. Victory over Chaos: Leviathan represents the demonic and chaotic powers that God will ultimately judge with His "sore and great and strong sword."
2. The Kept Vineyard: Contrast to Chapter 5; here, God says "I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment" (v. 3).
3. The Great Trumpet: Symbolic of the final gathering of God’s people from exile and spiritual death.

PRACTICAL LESSONS

1. God’s Protection: If God is our keeper, no enemy (serpent) can ultimately prevail.
2. Fruitfulness: The purpose of being gathered and restored is to "fill the face of the world with fruit" (v. 6).
