Overview
God remembered Noah, and the waters assuaged. The Ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat. Noah sent forth a raven and later a dove to see if the waters were abated. When the earth was dry, God commanded Noah to go forth from the Ark. The first thing Noah did was build an altar unto the LORD and offer burnt offerings. God smelled a "sweet savour" and promised never again to curse the ground for man's sake.
Practical Lessons
1. Waiting on God: Noah waited for God’s command to leave the Ark, just as he waited for the command to enter. Patience is key to faith.
2. Gratitude First: Noah’s first act was worship. We should always thank God first after He delivers us from a trial.
3. God’s Covenant Mercy: Despite man’s heart being evil from his youth, God chooses to show mercy and maintain the seasons of the earth.
