Chapter Study & Analysis

Sarai, being barren, gives her Egyptian handmaid Hagar to Abram. When Hagar conceives, she despises Sarai and eventually flees into the wilderness. The Angel of the LORD finds her and tells her to return. Hagar calls the LORD "Thou God seest me" (El Roi), and Ishmael is born.

2. The God Who Sees: God cares for the rejected and the hurting, even in the wilderness.
