Genesis 5 Study & Commentary

This record of Adam's descendants repeats the somber reality of death: "and he died". However, Enoch stands out because he "walked with God" and was taken by God without seeing death. The genealogy traces the line of faith down to Noah.
1. Walking with God: It is possible to live a holy life even in a corrupt world.
2. The Reality of Death: Physical death is the certain end of our earthly journey, making our walk with God urgent.
3. Spiritual Legacy: The faithfulness of one generation (Enoch) impacts the survival of the next (Noah).
