Chapter Study & Analysis

Pharaoh dreams of seven fatfleshed kine devoured by seven lean ones. When the magicians fail, the butler remembers Joseph. Joseph interprets the dreams as seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine, giving God the glory. Pharaoh sets Joseph over all the land of Egypt, second only to the throne, and gives him the name Zaphnath-paaneah.
1. God’s Timing is Perfect: Two full years passed in prison, but God used that time to align Joseph with Pharaoh’s need.
2. Humility before Honor: Joseph’s first words to Pharaoh were, "It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace."
3. Wisdom in Abundance: We should use times of plenty to prepare for times of need.
