Chapter Study & Analysis

A famine strikes, and Isaac goes to Gerar. God warns him not to go to Egypt and repeats the covenant made with Abraham. Isaac prospers greatly, causing the Philistines to envy him and stop up his wells. Isaac continually digs new wells, eventually finding peace at Rehoboth.
1. Persistence: Like Isaac, we must keep "digging" (doing right) even when others oppose us or try to stop our progress.
2. God’s Blessing in Famine: Obedience to God can lead to 100-fold fruitfulness even in difficult times.
3. Gentleness: Isaac chose to move and dig again rather than fight, showing the strength of a meek spirit.
