Chapter Study & Analysis

God appears to Abram in a vision, saying, "Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward." When Abram questions his lack of an heir, God tells him his seed shall be as the stars. "And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness." God confirms the covenant through a smoking furnace and a burning lamp.
1. Justification by Faith: Righteousness comes through believing God’s promise, not by works.
2. God’s Shield: God is our protection and our greatest prize.
3. Certainty: God’s covenants are guaranteed by His own character.
