Chapter Study & Analysis

Abram and Lot return from Egypt with much cattle, silver, and gold. Because the land could not bear them both, their herdmen strove together. Abram generously gives Lot the first choice of the land. Lot chooses the well-watered plain of Jordan near Sodom, while Abram dwells in Canaan.
1. Generosity: Abram, the elder, gives up his rights for the sake of peace.
2. The Sight of the Eyes: Lot chose based on outward appearance, leading him toward wickedness, while Abram trusted God.
