Chapter Study & Analysis

The LORD visits Sarah as He had said, and she bears Isaac in her old age. Ishmael is seen mocking, leading to Hagar and her son being cast out into the wilderness. God preserves them, promising to make Ishmael a nation. Abraham also makes a covenant with Abimelech at Beer-sheba.
1. God’s Timing: God fulfills His promises exactly when He says, regardless of human limitations.
2. God’s Care: Even when people are cast out, God hears the voice of the lad and provides in the desert.
3. Peaceful Living: Abraham seeks to live at peace with his neighbors through clear agreements.
