Chapter Study & Analysis

Aaron and his sons are set apart for the priesthood. Detailed instructions are given for the "holy garments for glory and for beauty," including the Ephod, the Breastplate of Judgment with twelve precious stones, the Urim and Thummim, and the golden plate on the mitre: HOLINESS TO THE LORD.
1. Our Great High Priest: Aaron’s garments point to the perfections of Jesus Christ, our High Priest, who bears our names on His heart.
2. Representing the People: The twelve stones on the breastplate show that God’s leaders must carry the needs and names of the people before His presence.
3. Consecration: The inscription "Holiness to the LORD" was to be always on the priest's forehead, reminding us that all ministry must be marked by purity.
