Chapter Study & Analysis

Israel murmurs for bread. God rains manna from heaven—a small round thing, white like coriander seed. They are commanded to gather a certain rate every day, with a double portion on the sixth day for the Sabbath. A pot of manna is kept for a memorial.
1. Daily Dependence: Manna could not be hoarded; it forced the people to trust God for "daily bread."
2. The True Bread: Jesus is the true Manna that came down from heaven to give life to the world.
3. Sanctity of the Sabbath: Even in providing food, God emphasized the necessity of rest and holy convocation.
