Chapter Study & Analysis

God establishes the Passover. A lamb without blemish is slain, and its blood is struck on the side posts and upper door post. When the LORD sees the blood, He passes over those houses. At midnight, the firstborn of Egypt are smitten. Pharaoh finally thrusts Israel out. 600,000 men, plus women, children, and a mixed multitude, depart after 430 years.
1. The Blood of the Lamb: "When I see the blood, I will pass over you." This is the clearest type of Christ, our Passover, sacrificed for us.
2. Immediate Obedience: The people ate in haste, with shoes on their feet and staves in their hands, ready to move at God’s command.
3. A Memorial Forever: We are called to never forget the day of our deliverance from the bondage of sin.
