Exodus 24 Study & Commentary

Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy elders see the God of Israel, and under His feet was a "paved work of a sapphire stone." Moses sprinkles the "blood of the covenant" on the people. He then goes up into the mount for forty days and nights, where the glory of the LORD appeared like a devouring fire.
1. Approaching God through Blood: No covenant or fellowship with a Holy God is possible without the shedding of blood.
2. The Solemnity of the Word: "All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient." Faith requires a decisive commitment.
3. Waiting on God: Moses had to wait six days in the cloud before God spoke; we must learn the discipline of waiting for divine revelation.
