Job 41 Study & Commentary
Job 41 is entirely dedicated to the Leviathan, a creature of such scales and fire-breathing power that no man can hope to tame it. God uses it to show that if no one is fierce enough to stir up Leviathan, who can stand before God?
CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS
1. Who can stand before Me? If man fears a created creature, he should much more fear the Creator (v. 10). Reverence for God is the only logical response to His power.2. God Owes No One: "Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him?" (v. 11). Everything under heaven belongs to God; we cannot put Him in our debt.
3. The King of Pride: Leviathan is called "a king over all the children of pride" (v. 34). God alone has the power to humble the most powerful and proud forces in existence.
