Job 25 Study & Commentary

Job 25 is Bildad’s final, very brief speech. He emphasizes God’s dominion and highness, asking how a man can be justified with God or how he can be clean that is born of a woman.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. God’s Transcendence: Bildad correctly points to God’s "dominion and fear" (v. 2). We must never lose our sense of awe and reverence for the Creator.
2. The Need for Grace: "How then can man be justified with God?" (v. 4). This question is only answered in the New Testament through the finished work of Jesus Christ.
3. Human Frailty: Compared to God’s brightness, even the moon and stars are not pure. Humility is the only proper response to the holiness of God.

FORMAL PRAYER

How can we be clean before Thee, O Holy God? We thank Thee for the blood of Christ that justifies us and makes us pure in Thy sight, far beyond our own merits. Amen.
