Chapter Study & Analysis

Job 39 is part of God’s response, focusing on the mysteries of the animal kingdom—the wild goats, the unicorns (wild oxen), the peacocks, the ostrich, the horse, and the eagle.

CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

1. God’s Care for the Untamed: God provides for creatures that man cannot tame or use (v. 1-12). If God cares for the wild hawk and the eagle, how much more does He care for His children?
2. The Strength of the Horse: God describes the horse’s courage in battle (v. 19-25). All natural strength and instinct are gifts from the Creator, not products of chance.
3. Humility in Knowledge: Job couldn't explain the instincts of these animals. This reminds us that there is a "logic" in God’s creation that far exceeds human reason.

FORMAL PRAYER

Lord, we marvel at the wisdom Thou hast placed in Thy creation. Thank Thee for Thy providential care over every living thing, and help us to trust Thy wisdom in our own lives. Amen.
